  High Speed Transient Recording

Sampling at up to 512 Samples per Cycle

The unit can sample at up to 512 samples per cycle. This allows a user to record high-speed transients and anomalies on the line. The user selects the sampling rate and channels to be recorded on the line. Moreover, the Nexus can record as many cycles as desired for the application. There is no back-end limitation on cycles recorded.

Voltage Surge and Sag Recording

Using the unit’s RMS trigger, the Nexus will record all Voltage surges and sags on the line allowing a user to build a detailed power quality database of readings and excursions. Using this information, the user will be able to view waveforms and plot CBEMA information depicting the amount of damage the PQ events caused.

Fault Recording and Analysis

The unit’s RMS trigger can also be used to trigger for current fault on a line. The trigger allows a user to view a graphic waveform of a fault event. Using the unit’s high-speed status inputs, the user can time relays and circuit breakers allowing the unit to be used for system apparatus monitoring as well as power metering.

GPS Clock Sync.

The Nexus monitor offers a built-in GPS clock sync input allowing the unit fault and PQ records to be timed to one millisecond. This is very useful for conducting fault analysis using the fault recording capability with the IRIG-B GPS clock input, the user can use a Nexus as a fault recorder timing multiple events through a power distribution system. This capability is available at a fraction of the cost of traditional fault recorders with less capability.

EN 50160 Flicker and Compliance Monitoring

It is important to maintain a source of high quality power to ensure efficient operations. One particular source of disturbance that can have very negative effects is Flicker. This consists of low frequency (less than 24 Hz) to intermittent line disturbances on the power line. Aside from effects on the equipment, disturbances of this type can have negative effects on people. One particular example is the flickering of light sources that can affect humans in different ways depending on the severity.

Interharmonic Analysis

The Nexus 1252 provides users with the ability to view interharmonics, the discrete frequencies that lie between the harmonics of the power frequency voltage and current. Frequencies can now be observed which are not an integer multiple of the fundamental and can appear as discrete frequencies or as a wide-band spectrum.
