Engineering Technician (R&D)

Electro Industries, the leader in power monitoring and smart grid solutions, is looking for an Engineering Technician (R&D) to join our Engineering team. This position is located at our Corporate office in Westbury, NY.

Duties:

In this position you will have the opportunity to work with our Chief Innovation Officer, an engineer with dozens of patents in our industry. You will be responsible for developing and testing solutions to solve technical problems in research and development. Assists engineers, inspects products, conducts tests and collects data.

  • Perform EMC type testing as per industry standards.
  • Understand and modify Electrical schematics, diagrams and technical documents.
  • Assist Design engineers in verifying product performance and writing of reports to describe the verification.
  • Create and build test fixtures.
  • Wiring up of panel instrumentation.
  • Test, troubleshoot and repair analog and digital circuitry down to component level.
  • Create and perform test cases as per product feature requirements.
  • Maintain lab equipment.
  • Power supply experience a plus.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • AAS degree, degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent technical experience
  • Experience with Computer software such as MS Word, Excel and adobe pdf

Embedded Software Engineer

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.

  • 5 -10+ years of experience in embedded systems and firmware design architecture.

EIG is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Test Engineer to join our dynamic R&D team. As a Test Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our product through rigorous testing and validation processes. If you are passionate about testing, have a strong technical background, and thrive in a fast paced environment, we would like to meet you.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive test plans, test cases and test scripts for product verification.
  • Design and build test fixtures, ensuring accurate and repeatable test setups.
  • Conduct functional, performance and reliability tests on our product and systems.
  • Utilize a wide range of test equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, waveform generators, and Automated Test Systems (ATE), to perform verification, measurement, and troubleshooting.
  • Must be comfortable working with High Voltages ranging from 24 V to 8 kV.
  • Perform testing as per various IEEE, ANSI, UL, EN and CSA standards.
  • Analyze test data and provide detailed reports, highlighting any issues or anomalies discovered during testing.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to identify and resolve performance issues and improve quality.
  • Continuously improve testing methodologies, tools, and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Maintain test equipment and schedule repairs as needed.
  • Work closely with teams to ensure integration into product test lifecycle.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Proven experience in testing, preferably in a product development environment.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Systems is preferred.
  • Proficiency in test development, including creating test plans, test cases and test scripts.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Familiarity with general OS systems, office software and wireless/LAN networks.
  • Familiarity with test automation and script languages such as Python, Selenium or C#.
  • Experience with data analysis tools is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Detail-oriented mindset, ensuring accurate and precise testing procedures and documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Good organizational skills.
