Westbury, NY (Monday, June 23, 2014) – Electro Industries/ GaugeTech (EIG) announces that its data-logging Shark 200 multifunction energy and power meter with expandable I/O has received KEMA certification for its IEC 61850 protocol implementation. KEMA rigorously tested EIG’s IEC 61850 protocol option card, the INP300S, and found it to comply with the IEC 61850 international standard. KEMA certification is only issued if the component being tested is found to function correctly and meet the technical requirements of the standard. Receiving KEMA certification proves the technical excellence of the Shark 200 power meter’s IEC 61850 protocol implementation.

The Shark 200 power meter is used by industry and utilities worldwide to measure and report on electrical power. The meter’s IEC 61850 protocol support allows it to seamlessly integrate into any existing substation automation IEC 61850 system.

This capability joins the Shark 200 power meter’s other utility features, which include DNP 3.0 over Ethernet, 0.001% frequency accuracy, real time clock synchronization options for the most accurate load profiling, wide dynamic voltage under-range measurement, communication port options and many other features.
