The ProtoCom is a one-stop solution to building automation. It allows any integrator to easily provide power metering data to any building automation system (BAS) that uses BACnet or LonWorks^® protocols. With the ProtoCom a user can easily convert power metering data from EIG’s native Modbus protocol to the desired format quickly and easily without complex integration.

This rugged device reliably solves a host of communication problems. It converts two- or four-wire RS485 to RS232 (and back again), and an optional module converts either of these formats into fiber optic, bidirectionally. The Unicom 2500 communicates at a rate of up to 115 kilo baud and it even increases the throughput of two-wire RS485 mode. Its opto-isolation protects your valuable equipment and buses from destructive spikes and surges of up to 2500 volts. The Unicom 2500 also has a DTE/DCE switch that eliminates the need for a null-modem.

The FiberCom Media Converter provides 10/100Mbps communication between Cat 5 twisted pair Ethernet cables and Fiber Optic cables. The FiberCom protects your copper-wire investment, while extending the range of your communication capability and preparing your network for future optimization. It is perfect for harsh electrical environments, such as substations or power generation plants. The unit is ideal for point to point communication for metering, automation, and protection.

The CAB6490 USB to IrDA adapter lets you connect to a Shark® meter’s IrDA port using your PC. Just plug the cable into your PC’s USB port and point the IrDA adapter at the IrDA port. You will be able to connect to the meter through CommunicatorPQA® software for configuration and polling. You can also use the link to download meter data files into any other compatible application.
